Discounted Tickets for a Local Music
Festival on 10th, 11th, 12th June
We have for several years been supportive of Local Music,
and have worked with RoughBeats Festival to further this. We can offer a guest
list discount of £25 off a Full Weekend Ticket including Camping via this link https://www.hmvtickets.co/performances/8147/book Single day tickets are also
available.
Some details of the Festival are as below:
SUMMER STARTS AT ROUGHBEATS FESTIVAL
Ten years ago, Dom, Mike and Tony - with a little help from
their friends -
decided to throw a party in a field. And what a party it was. Since then
Rough Beats has grown in size and reputation, with increasing numbers of
brilliant, crazy and eclectic acts welcomed each year. While getting bigger
and more popular each time, Rough Beats has kept its original quirky
independent spirit and delivers a weekend that keeps you dancing and doesn't
leave you out of pocket.
Now a 2000 capacity festival there are 45 acts on 4 stages over the weekend
including Craig Charles DJ, Iration Steppas, Chrome Hoof, Hot Club de Paris,
Tim Forrester, Asbo Kid (formerly of EMF and Elastica Fame) The festival is
set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales just 20 miles from Lancaster.
Aurora Stage:
Chrome Hoof, Rise Kagona and the Jit Jive Band (Zimbabwe), Jota Ramos
(Colombia), Hot Club de Paris, DIXIE...
The Embankment Stage:
All Eyes West (Chicago), Delooze, Black Diamond Bay, Shy & the Fight...
The Berber Stage
The Horn the Hunt, Quip, Asbo Kid, Freear...
The Bus Stage
Dean McPhee, DIM, Heart Ships, Wilful Missing...
Sunday Special:
Craig Charles, Iration Steppas, Motor City Revue, Pink Peg Slax...
All the venues are in marquees so the event is weatherproof. There is a
pop-up bistro serving excellent cheap food from award winning London chef
and late bars serving cocktails as well as a range of real northern beers
and all of it at reasonable prices - not your usual festival rip-off fare by
any means.
The event is produced by local brothers Michael, Dominic, Kieron, Brendan
and Fionn McSherry and Tony Frances. It's all about having a great time,
listening to brilliant music, in a beautiful location surrounded by ace
people and without being left out of pocket.
I hope you have found something of interest in this
Newsletter. We are still keen to work with people on any new or developing
initiatives. Please contact us on

VIBRANT SETTLE
At a recent public meeting of Vibrant Settle it was suggested that it would be useful to reinstate the town directory, listing contacts for all local organisations and
groups, so that anyone in the town could easily identify who to contact about activities. This would be a great help to anyone moving to the town and also to all
those currently resident who needed to find out about what was happening in town and who to contact about the various range of activities which take place
locally. Mark Dale and Alastair Cook volunteered to compile the new directory and are now appealing for contact details from any of the various organisations in
Settle and District who wish to be listed. They can be reached on

Big Lunch 2010
Sunday 18th July
Local Chefs from 3 Yorkshire Dales Challenge
National Food Critic.
After Food Critic Michael Winner criticised all Northern food as rubbish, 3 Chefs and local foodies are prepared to issue a challenge back to him.
Settle Festival has organised the popular “Take 3 Chefs” demonstration cookery evenings since 2008, and has worked with many top Northern cooks, including Pub Chef of the Year from Michelin starred kitchens, Michael Ward, and award winning Yorkshire Chef, Stephanie Moon.
The latest upcoming event, on Wednesday 17th March at Settle Victoria Hall, features Bruce Elsworth, from Multi-Award winning The Angel Inn at Hetton, Terry Quinn, from The Lister Arms in Malham, and Richard Wright from The Craven Arms in Giggleswick. They will be cooking with Local Produce, and food suppliers will be working with them at the event, to display the best of Yorkshire Food Provenance.
Settle Festival events organiser Mark Dale, a working Chef and Catering Advisor himself, who has done display cookery for The National Park and at National Major events, such as The CLA Game Fair, says “ …. For Mr Winner to say that “all Northern Food is terrible beyond human belief” is so wrong and unfair on all who work in the food industry, and we are prepared for him to come and see our demo, to show the diversity and quality of food we can offer here. We have chefs cooking from a range of different types of dining places, such as the rural pub, where Terry is Chef/Manager, the award winning inn where Bruce is Executive Chef , and the newest local organic meat eatery where Richard is Head Chef. – These great chefs will be cooking a range of superb food, that would make Michael Winner eat his words ! - he is welcome to come and see, and taste and then try and make such a statement !”
Wine matching and food tasters will be available on the night, and with a raffle and displays of local ingredients, Farm Shop Owner James Ingle and International food blogger Chris Wildman from Paganum, it offers plenty to show Mr Winner how wrong he is! MC for the evening will be Margaret Holgate – infamous local WI personality and former home economics teacher!
Tickets available from Victoria Hall 01729 825718

"Sourcing food locally, knowing who grew it, reared it and harvested it at it's very best, is very much a way of life for Ribble Valley Inns...with each pub sourcing ingredients from it's own local suppliers, then creating dishes to capture the abundance of taste and freshness.
Dishes that have huge appeal to all lovers of good food...including children.
